Indian e-Visa requirements for Guyanese citizens
In 2017, the Indian government introduced a quick, time-saving computerized visa process for travelers who seek to visit the country. Over 150 countries can use this electronic visa system.
Applicants from Guyana can now apply online by completing a short application form.
1. Types of Indian e-Visa for Guyanese citizens
As long as the necessary papers and conditions are completed, obtaining an Indian Visa online is fairly simple. Guyana residents should also be aware that India offers a variety of Indian visas, each with its own set of conditions.
For Guyanese passport holders, the most useful types of electronic visas are:
- India Tourist e-Visa with a double entry allows for a 30-day stay. If you're looking to stay in India longer, you can apply for long-term e-tourists visas which are India 1 year e-tourist visa and India 5 years e-tourist visa. These visas allow Guyanese visitors to enter and remain in India within the validity period of the visa, 1 year or 5 years respectively, with each stay shall not exceed 90 days.
- India Business e-Visa with multiple-entry allows for a 180-day stay during each trip
- Indian medical visa: For those seeking medical treatment at Indian hospitals and their accompanying family members, there are other types of visas, including the India Medical e-Visa and Medical Attendant e-Visa. These are triple-entry visas, allowing Guyanese passport holders to stay in India for up to 60 days from the arrival date
- Indian e-Conference Visa: With single-entry authorization, Guyanese travelers can stay in India for up to 30 days from the day of their arrival.
2. Indian e-Visa Requirements for Guyanese citizens
Guyanese nationals are required to meet the following conditions to obtain an India e visa and comply with the Indian e-Visa entry requirements:
- Having a valid Guyanese passport that remains valid for at least six months from the arrival date in India
- A valid debit or credit card (to pay processing fees )
- A scanned copy of the passport’s biographical page
- A photograph of the applicant that was taken recently (should be taken within the last 06 months).
- An active email address (where Guyanese will receive their India e-visa)
Each type of Indian visa will require different types of documentation to complete a visa application form. Depending on the type of India visa that the applicant is seeking, the documents required will be different.
- An invitation letter from the host, as well as the host's ID card/passport (for a Business visa).
- A medical letter from a hospital in India if you apply for a medical e-Visa
- An invitation letter from the conference organizer and political clearance from the Government of India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) (For e-conference visa).
As soon as all these conditions are met, Guyanese nationals can begin their application process, however, they will also need to answer questions and provide specific documentation.
In the application form, they will find the following questions:
- First Name and last names
- Birthday
- Nationality
- Gender
- Passport number
- Date of arrival and departure
Before application, passport information papers should be scanned. The form can be completed using a computer, tablet, or smartphone from anywhere with an internet connection. Indian e-Visa applications can be completed online within a few minutes, and their approval takes only 05 hours to 03 business days.
Vaccinations are required for Guyanese citizens before entering India
Travelers to India, including Guyanese citizens, need all the vaccines to stay there, even though some of these diseases are essentially wiped out in other parts of the world.
To avoid becoming sick while going to India from Guyana, it is a good idea to visit a medical practitioner and get the appropriate immunizations before leaving.
For entry into India, the following vaccines are required:
- Yellow fever
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid fever
- Measles
- Japanese encephalitis
- Cholera
- Rabies
In addition, travelers to India should wash their hands, drink bottled water, eat safely, avoid touching street animals, and protect themselves from insect bites.
3. Indian e-Visa fee for Guyanese citizen
Applicants for Indian e-Visas are required to pay two types of India visa fees: the government fee and the service fee.
Because Guyana is not on the Indian government's list of e-Visa exemptions, a government fee is required.
Your service fee will be lower the more applications you submit. Otherwise, you can select from the following options according to your travel needs:
- Normal: It is the most cost-effective method to apply for an Indian e-Visa if you have plenty of time to gather your documentation and wait for a response. This service has a 03-business-day wait time.
- Urgent: The result of the visa will be sent to Guyanese citizens within 24 hours.
- Super Urgent: This type of service is used for Guyanese nationals in high-priority scenarios where you need your e-Visa within 05 working hours.
Payment method: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and PayPal are the most commonly used electronic payment options. Another option is to use wire transfers.
